I felt sad to wrap up my 5-year engagement with the Geospatial Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) last week. All five PhD cohorts have shown great engagement, creativity and appreciation for the value of human skills. In today’s world the positive approach of their generation is a cause for optimism.

Thank you to everyone at the CDT who supported me in the delivery of leadership, coaching and enterprise training modules: Profs Jon Mills and Stuart Marsh, Jamie Stogden, Phyllida Bailey, Max Wilkinson.
Incidentally, last week also marked the closure of the geospatial BSc programmes at Newcastle University after 60 years. Over 250 alumni gathered for the occasion and reconnected at a massive event organised by Henny Mills et al. It was a great reminder about the value of community in uncertain times.
And some good news: Newcastle University is launching a new MSc in Geospatial AI, starting this September. I hear they have a good level of applications for the first cohort. If you are a geo professional and thinking of seriously investing in your own learning, this may be a fabulous way to do it.
Onwards!
