These photos show spaces where I have witnessed true magic happen. Where people have developed the single most important skill for leadership, changemaking, and impact at work.

No slides, no lectures, no role play, no gimmicks.
Just a circle of chairs.
But it’s not nursery school. Nor is it group therapy.
It’s a space where people practice real skills on real issues. Where they slow down to notice and reflect. Where they learn to listen and engage more powerfully. Where they make sense of data to let true insights emerge.
Some people have described it as lifechanging, but that is more of a side effect.
Primarily, these people have grown to become great leaders, colleagues, consultants, team players, friends and partners. And they have developed a powerful coaching and mentoring culture at work.
The Financial Times recently reported that 82% of people in new leadership and management positions in the UK do not receive any training.
The people I’ve worked with must be in the lucky 18%. But this is ridiculous. Why is this the exception? What kind of employer does not invest in the people they rely on for success?
It doesn’t even have to break the bank. I’ve run workshops that last from three hours to a day.
But if you’re up for something more intense, I can introduce you to the good people at Client Centred Consulting who offer 5-day in person programmes. I’m privileged to have joined their team as an associate facilitator. And yes, there are still businesses who believe in this kind of thing – we are scaling up!
Hope to see you in the 18%. Or should that be 100%?
