
A practical and affordable solution for developing geospatial leadership skills.

Purpose and objective
Geospatial professionals typically operate across disciplines, often in complex environments. Therefore geospatial leaders need to excel at building bridges – translating between domains, influencing with and without authority – to deliver integrated solutions for a diverse stakeholder base. This programme aims to equip emerging geospatial leaders with skills and confidence to lead and collaborate in their chosen fields.
Target group
Emerging leaders – i.e. geospatial professionals who are stepping up in their role to lead or influence projects, programmes, teams, stakeholder groups, etc.
Format
Group size: 4-8 participants
Duration: 4 weeks (ca. 4-5 hours per week)
Weekly group workshops (2.5 hours) to learn about key topics, share experiences, practice peer coaching and leadership skills
Weekly individual coaching sessions (1 hour each) to help individuals develop their own leadership style, purpose and vision, as well as support them through real workplace issues facing them today.
Individual email support throughout the programme
Peer support within and outside formal sessions
Homework: suggested reading + apply learned skills and behaviours in the workplace
Group sessions will be highly interactive, covering topics such as:
- Leading technological change
- Communicating and influencing across disciplines
- Leadership issues specific to the geospatial sector
- Peer coaching and mentoring (real practice in the group to build skills)
- Strategic and systemic thinking and engagement
- Building trust, resilience, self-care, self-awareness
- Developing your personal leadership style
- Useful leadership models and templates
- Etc.
The programme will allow a certain degree of tailoring to match the topics to the specific needs and interests of the participants.
All sessions will be delivered online.
Outcomes
At the end of the 4-week programme participants will walk away with:
- Greater confidence and skills to lead, influence, coach and collaborate
- Lessons and insights for further personal development
- A leadership toolkit with useful models and frameworks
- A peer support network
Time investment
Ca. 20 hours per person, spread over 4 weeks:
- 4 group sessions = 10 hours
- 4 individual coaching sessions = 4 hours + reflection time
- Homework ca. 1 hour per week = 4 hours
- Applying new skills and behaviours in the workplace = implicit (no extra time required)
Indicative pricing
ca. £1,600 per person, all in.
